Ichthyology and Marine Biology

The coastline of Ceara State is 573 km long with several ecological features in its extension, as the sandstone reefs found along a few of its beaches that shelter many fish communities. The present work has as its main purpose to catalogue Ceara’s reef fishes species which occur on reefs of the intertidal region and to compare them with the existent literature for Northeastern Brazil. A total of 77 reef fish species (76 Actinopterygii and 1 Elasmobranchii) were registered, belonging to 58 genera and 35 families from the intertidal region of Ceara coast, with 28 new records of occurrence.
