ResumoThis research aimed to evaluate the energy potential of wood and charcoal derived from seven genetic materials of Eucalyptus sp. at seven years of age. Were evaluated the basic density, the calorific value of the wood and the yields of charcoal in pyroligneous liquid, non-condensable gases and fixed carbon, bulk density, fixed carbon, volatiles and ash and calorific value of charcoal. To evaluate the physical, chemical and thermal properties of wood a completely randomized design with seven treatments and six replications was used. The multivariate principal component analysis was done. The results demonstrated the potential use of genetic materials of Eucalyptus sp. for energy use and charcoal production. However, the results obtained for the "Clone White" did not indicate it as being a good species for energy use.
