Resumo

This paper investigates the vulnerabilities of address resolution protocol (ARP), which is one of the key protocols in the TCP/IP suite, and used to associate the Internet protocol address to the medium access control address. We present several efficient ways to detect and prevent attacks against this protocol in order to keep network connectivity, create reliability, insure security, manage Internet protocol, and monitor the network. We have focused on connection transactions when the attack occurs. This problem presents a significant risk in maintaining sensitive data from unauthorized access. In this paper, we propose a new approach that achieves various goals and has multiple benefits not found in the usual techniques. This model offers the following: 1) it can be applied on a real network, 2) it has a client/server architecture, 3) it produces an executable file support operating system with less than 2 KB, 4) it requires no extra material or human resource, 5) it possesses effective solutions, 6) it has no side effects, i.e., in speed, 7) it is unique in solving the problem of detection and prevention of attacks against ARP and impersonation attacks at local area networks, and 8) it reduces the effort and cost of continuously pursuing commercially competitive products.
