ResumoABSTRACT. Holsback L., Marquez E. de S. & Meneghel P.P. [Parasitic resistance of gastrointestinal helminthes and evaluation of the hematological parameters in sheeps from north of Parana]. Resistencia parasitaria de helmintos gastrointestinais e avaliacao dos parâmetros hematologicos de ovinos no norte do Parana. Revista Brasileira de Medicina Veterinaria, 35(1):85-92, 2013. Setor de Veterinaria e Producao Animal, Centro de Ciencias Agrarias, Universidade Estadual do Norte do Parana, Rodovia BR 369, Km 54, Bandeirantes, PR 86360-000, Brasil. E-mail: lhsfertonani@uenp.edu.br The presence of parasitic resistance by nematodes and anthelmintic efficacy, using albendazole, levamisol and ivermectin association (G1), closantel (G2) and moxidectin (G3) through Reduction of Fecal Egg Count (RCOF) and coproculture in sheep were evaluated. Hematological analyses were also performed. The helminths were considered sensitive and with low resistance to treatments respectively for G1/G3 and G2. The efficiency of treatments about the genera of nematodes to anthelmintic association was highly effective against Haemonchus (100%) and Trichostrongylus (100%), the closantel was shown to be insufficiently active for Oesophagostomum (0%), effective against Haemonchus (93%) and highly effective against Trichostrongylus (100%) and moxidectin highly effective (99.4%) against Haemonchus and Trichostrongylus (100%). It was revealed increase in the absolute number of lymphocytes and leukocytes after treatment with the anthelmintic association and closantel. There was no haematological significant difference in animals treated with moxidectin. Correlation was observed between levels of OPG, hemoglobin, hematocrit and total protein. It is concluded from this study that all treatments are effective, but that anthelmintic association have the best performance by combination of effects like: action faster, smaller worm burdens detected throughout the experimental period and improvement of cell parameters of myeloid and lymphoid series.
