Resumo

Civil construction faces an immense challenge in consequence of fire damages occurred during the construction and service phases. This occurs because fire represents one of the most severe environmental conditions to which structures can be subjected, so it is important to study means that contribute to the mitigation of these problems. The present work analyzed the behavior of reinforced concrete with polypropylene fibers when exposed to high temperatures. The methodology consisted on the preparation of 30 MPa concrete specimens, with the addition of three fiber contents (1,20 kg/m³, 1,80 kg/m³ and 2,40 kg/m³), which were exposed at temperatures of 200 °C, 400 °C, 600 °C and 800 °C for 30 minutes. The parameters analyzed were the compressive strength, ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) and the mass reduction factor. The analysis of variance showed that the fiber content significantly influences the compressive strength, but does not occur for the reduction of mass.
