ResumoLorenzo Lotto (1480–1556) was a Venetian High Renaissance artist renowned for his religious paintings and portraits. One of the finest portrait painters in the history of art along with van Eyck, Durer, Raphael, Titian, Velazquez, and Goya, Lotto is famous for his ability to depict the psychological traits of his sitters. Referred to as the first psychoanalytic painter and the “Henry James of the painters”, Lotto registered the slightest changes in the look, face, body, or dress of his sitters.
