ResumoLiterature, especially the canonical, as a place of representations, has long brought to the fore characters in stereotypes, especially with regard to women.Fortunately, this trajectory has been changing and giving way, more and more, to multiple representations consistent with the lived contemporaneity and the great diversity of representations. The objective of this research is to analyze the character Cecilia, from the contemporary novel De um grande amor e de uma perdição maior ainda, author Leticia Wierzchowski (2007), in view of the changes presented by the character in the rediscovery of his sexuality, a theme that was constituted a taboo for a long time, especially when it comes to women. As a theoretical contribution, the research used, mainly, the Feminist Criticism, composed by researchers such as Elodia Xavier, Lúcia Osana Zolin, among others, whose work is to allow visibility to literature made by women in a society dominated by male representation. The work also resorted to researches by Stuart Hall and Zygmunt Bauman in the area of identity and representation.
