ResumoThere are many pathologic conditions which occur in the maxillofacial region. Some are rare with only isolated case reports in the literature. In order to get a general picture of such lesions, it is common practice to gather information described in the literature, analyze the data, and write systematic reviews. This is of great importance because it provides information that can improve diagnostic accuracy and could help pathologists and surgeons to make informed decisions and refine the treatment plan to optimize the clinical outcome. However, with systematic reviews there are issues of missing data, wrong diagnosis, lack of histopathological information, and lack of follow-up.
