EnglishThe objective of this article is to analyze the international scene of the discussion on the repatriation and restitution of cultural goods which were withdrawn from their territories of origin in different circumstances, especially during the colonial period. Through the analysis of some international and national cases, we seek to understand how the different nations and cultural institutions have dealt with matters relating to cultural heritage in times of decolonization. portuguesO presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar o cenario internacional da discussao sobre a repatriacao e a restituicao de bens culturais que foram retirados de seus territorios de origem em circunstâncias diversas, especialmente durante o periodo colonial. Por meio da analise de alguns casos internacionais e nacionais, buscou-se compreender de que forma as diferentes nacoes e instituicoes culturais tem lidado com os assuntos referentes ao patrimonio cultural em tempos de descolonizacao.
