ResumoThe autor publishes the results of the first campaign (1982) of excavations within the castle walls of Alcácer do Sal.The site is in front of the Mother Church of Santa Maria. The discovery of an absidal cella amongst the architectural remains is noteworthy, as it represents the first know public building of Roman Imperatoria. The interpretation of its entrance is still problematic.A mongst the finds we would like to draw the reader 's attentionh to a hand of a statue and a fragment of a togatus, both in marble. The various types of ceramics encountered can mostly be dated to the first century a. C. Further excavation will, no doubt, contribute to the clarification of some of the remaining question marks.
