ResumoThe cerrado’s traditional populations have a diversity of biocultural knowledges associated to this biome, being the products of the extractivism consumed and commercialized in familiar agriculture fairs. The direct purchase of traditional products allows the rescue of the socio, historical, and cultural dimensions of these foods. The objective of the present research was to investigate and systematize the different forms of local uses and knowledges associated with the cerrado’s plants present in the products sold at the Feira Agroecológica Raízes do Campo, in Jaboticatubas, Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte (RMBH), with an emphasis on the extractivism of the macaúba (Acrocomia aculeata). In the methodological praxis of the work, interviews with a semi-structured questionnaire were carried out to the family farmers who are part of the Feira Raízes do Campo and with visits for participant observation to some rural properties of the fair dealers. The macaúba palm is of great abundance in the region and the farmers have a rich collection of uses, knowledges and processing techniques associated to it.
