Legal processes and jurisprudence

After the constitutional reform adopted in 2008, aimed at renewing the French institutional framework, new laws have been required to put in practice the new provisions. In that context, these pages try to describe and analyze the main constitutional and legal developments which have taken place during the last year (summer 2010-summer 2011), underlining some of them whose institutional impact seems to be especially important, such as the new procedure for claiming at any moment that a statutory provision infringes the constitutional rights and freedoms (Question prioritaire de constitutionnalité, QPC).La puesta en marcha de las nuevas medidas introducidas por la reforma constitucional adoptada en 2008, dirigida a la modernización de las instituciones de la Quinta República, ha requerido la aprobación de nuevas leyes. En ese contexto, estas páginas tratan de describir y analizar las principales novedades constitucionales y legales producidas durante el último año (verano de 2009-verano de 2010), subrayando aquéllos cuya repercusión institucional parece especialmente destacable, como es el caso de la nueva «Cuestión prioritaria de constitucionalidad» (QPC).
