O chamado a santidade no mundo atual e um desafio, uma vez que ser santo foi muitas vezes entendido de maneira equivocada. Nao se trata da entrega a comportamentos ou a praticas piedosas extravagantes, nem da pertenca a uma elite religiosa. Ser santo e a vocacao de todo fiel em Cristo e ate mesmo de todo ser humano, tendo o Cristo por fundamento e modelo, e o Espirito Santo como aquele que opera em todos a cristificacao nao como producao em massa, e sim numa comunhao que se realiza conforme a originalidade de cada pessoa. Alem daqueles santos que ganharam fama especialmente pela canonizacao, devemos estar atentos aquela “nuvem de testemunhas” com as quais convivemos dia a dia, a comecar por nossa familia e por nossos amigos. Vivemos rodeados de santos e nao notamos. Mais ainda, membros da Igreja do Brasil, Igreja que ate hoje nao logrou possuir rosto proprio, precisamos conhecer melhor e aprender a ser cristaos com aqueles brasileiros e brasileiras que souberam seguir Jesus conforme o jeito brasileiro de ser e estar no mundo. Palavras-chave: Santidade. Vocacao. Testemunhas. Ser e estar no mundo. Brasileiros. Abstract The call to holinessis is a challenge in the present world, since being holy was often misunderstood. It is neither a question of surrendering to extravagant pious behavior or to practices nor one of belonging to a religious elite. To be holy is the vocation of every believer in Christ and even of every human being, having the Christ as the foundation and as the model, and the Holy Spirit as the one who works the christification within all not as mass production, but in a communion that is accomplished according to the originality of each person. In addition to those saints who have gained fame especially for the canonization, we have to be attentive to that cloud of witnesses we live with day by day, by starting with our family and our friends. We live surrounded by saints and we do not notice it. Moreover, as members of the Church of Brazil, a Church that has not managed to have a face of its own so far, we need to have better knowledge and to learn to be christians with those Brazilians who knew how to follow Jesus according to the Brazilian way of being in the world.
