As tecnologias estao cada vez mais presentes no cotidiano de cada individuo. No entanto, ainda pouco se conhece sobre as Tecnologias Assistivas que auxiliam os deficientes visuais. O objetivo desta pesquisa visou apresentar alguns recortes sobre a inclusao de deficientes visuais, alem de averiguar a situacao em que se encontra a Unidade Escolar Dr. Murilo Braga, em Presidente Dutra, no Estado do Maranhao. Os dados coletados expoem as necessidades em possuir um acervo digital na sala especial para que os alunos possam acessar as midias e aprimorar seus conhecimentos, especialmente por meio do computador e tecnologias moveis, alem de novos equipamentos e softwares apropriados. Apesar das iniciativas existentes, a inclusao digital dos deficientes visuais esta longe do ideal e a falta de iniciativas efetivas para aumentar a empregabilidade da tecnologia a estes usuarios ainda e muito insatisfatoria. MURILO BRAGA IN PRESIDENTE DUTRA IN THE STATE OF MARANHAO ABSTRACT Technologies are increasingly present in the daily life of each individual. However, little is known about the Assistive Technologies that help the visually impaired. The objective of this research is to present some clipping about the inclusion of the visually impaired, as well as to investigate the situation of the Murilo Braga School Unit in Presidente Dutra in the state of Maranhao. The data collected show the need to have a digital library in the special room so that students can access the media and improve their knowledge, especially through computer and mobile technologies, as well as new equipment and appropriate software. Despite the existing initiatives, the digital inclusion of the visually impaired is far from ideal and the lack of effective initiatives to increase the employability of technology to these users is still very unsatisfactory.
