Resumo

We analysed the amount of iodine in nine samples from different marks of sodium chloride (NaCl). The samples were obtained during one year at intervals of four mounths, in Santa Maria, RS, Brasil.The method was oxi-reduction tritation using a 0.005 N sodium thiosulphate solution. The results found showed that the iodine concentration are, often, out of the normal limites (between 9.6 to 17.0 mg of I2 / kg of NaCl).
