This article deals with the problems of implementation of international projects and improvement of their efficiency in the conditions of modern intercultural communications. A significant place is devoted to the consideration of historical and cultural heritage (on the example of the city of Murom). The article analyzes the cultural and symbolic potential in order to reveal the basic values of Russian culture and in particular the culture of Vladimir region. It is emphasized that the most effective variant of realization of the identification potential of cultural heritage is the region - the territory, which is supported by various types of objective forms of culture, social institutions, relations and ideological concepts of various social and territorial groups living in its borders. Special attention is paid to the development of cultural dialogue in the framework of the successful implementation of international projects, as well as to the formation of new communication strategies.
