ResumoThe present work of titulacion studies the dynamic behavior of the strata of the soil and sub-soil, like fundamental instrument to carry out projects of seismic zoning, since through the captured data we can know the conduct of the means in front of seismic events; this dynamic response is related to the natural frequency of site vibration. For which the technique of horizontal / vertical spectral quotient (H / V), exposed by Nakamura in 1989, was used to determine the fundamental period of the soil. Applying this technique, the zoning of soil response periods is presented in the urban area of the Loja Basin, located south of the Ecuadorian Territory, where several measurements were taken in different parts of the city, using a digital triaxial accelerometer from high performance and high dynamic range, for data acquisition (SARA electronic instruments). This document details the procedure used to capture and process the measurements. The applied technique was feasible in terms of management, efficiency and cost, compared with other methods. The results obtained have allowed zoning the urban area of the Loja basin, in three categories: long, medium and short periods, correlating them with the geology of the place and the distribution of the neighborhoods of the city on these areas. The information generated in the present investigation is important for subsequent studies, it can be used for the elaboration of Land Management Plans and creation of Seismic Risk maps in which the evaluation of civil works is included.
