ResumoProposing a specific nomenclature for the subgenre of texts that use authors and works of world literature as characters in a fictional plot (ESTEVES, 2010), a comparison is made between some novels of collection "Literatura ou Morte", and the book-movie Invenção do Brasil, by Guel Arraes and Jorge Furtado, aiming to analyze if works produced from that principle could turn out to be utilized for didactic purposes in the teaching of literature. It takes the concept of "metafiction historiographical" (HUTCHEON, 1991) as a measure in order to determine the differences between the two enterprises, concluding by the caution with the use of such books, although its use can be recommended in some cases.
