E-mail: katherinac@gmail.com The aim of this work was to evaluate the activity of Pilocarpus pennatifolius against Ctenocephalides felis felis, Rhipicephalus sanguineus and Rhipicephalus microplus. The in vitro assays proceeded according to the immersion test using engorged females (Drummond et al. 1973) opposite of R. microplus and R. sanguineus, and impregnation filter paper test for C. f. felis. The extract of P. pennatifolius was obtained by exhaustive maceration and their chemical composition was assessed by thin layer chromatography followed by colorimetric assays. Dilutions of the extract were prepared in the concentration range between 625 and 20,000 ppm. The results showed that the extract of jaborandi was activity in vitro in the range of concentration tested against ectoparasites reviews with efficacy values of 35% to C. f. felis, 31.82% to R. microplus and 59.06% to R. sanguineus.
