Cannulation of the brachial plexus by the axillary approach can be facilitated by use of a spinal needle-intravenous catheter combination. This technique may have advantages compared with previously described techniques. Two cases in which this technique was used are reported. The subject of brachial plexus cannulation and continuous brachial plexus anesthesia is discussed.
