History of Education Research in Brazil

The present research encompasses the work of Jose Loureiro Fernandes in Brazilian archaeology. Loureiro Fernandes, although a physician, dedicated his life to innumerous anthropological studies. As part of the Circulo de Estudos Bandeirantes, Museu Paranaense and Universidade Federal do Parana, Fernandes campaigned for protective legislation for archaeological sites throughout Parana and Brazil. Loureiro Fernandes was responsible for the creation of the Centro de Ensino e Pesquisas Arqueologicas, the Anthropology Department and the Museu de Arqueologia e Artes Populares at the Universidade do Parana, thus enabling future archaeological research and the education of archaeologists.
