ResumoAdoption of endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) in North America has been limited by procedural complexity, steep learning curve, and risk for serious adverse events (AE). In the West, rectal lesions have traditionally been approached early in the endoscopist learning curve due to the perceived lower degree of technical difficulty and rate of AE; however, recent data have raised concerns of lower complete (R0) resection rates and higher risk for bleeding after ESD in the rectum.
