ResumoThis paper presents a study about female protagonism in Malhacao: Viva a Diferenca (2017-2018, Rede Globo). Based on the propositions about the centrality of characters in mediatic narratives (Pallottini, 2012; Motta, 2013) and on studies about adolescence (Leon, 2005; Guareschi, 2006; Ozella & Aguiar, 2008), the present paper focused on the five protagonists of the season and their dilemmas to identify what relevant discussions they propose for the context of adolescents, women in particular. With a characterization instrument, physical and behavioral aspects of the characters in the narrative were analyzed, considering the corpus of 147 episodes broadcasted on the television programming and on the Globo Play platform, from May 1st and November 22nd, 2017. As results, it was identified that each one of the protagonists was designed to depict a number of issues of being an adolescent, such as sexuality, alcohol and drug abuse, the combat against racism, social inadequacy, freedom, and worries about the future. All these issues that are explored in the season approach the reality of the audience’s reality and encourage the debate about what means to be a female adolescent.
