Resumo

Abstract Chiral calixarene analog incorporating amino acid residues into macrocyclic rings was prepared. The macrocycles form a chiral concave, which is induced by the chiral transmission from the amino acid to the phenol-formaldehyde tetramer unit through the hydrogen bonds. Molecular recognition for a chiral ammonium ion by the macrocycles was investigated.
