ResumoAbstract BaMgF 4 and Ba 2 Mg 3 F 10 were synthesized by sintering stoichiometric mixtures of the binary fluorides and characterized by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction. BaMgF 4 crystallizes with the orthorhombic BaZnF 4 structure type in space group Cmc2 1 (no. 36), a = 4.126(1) Å, b = 14.518(4) Å, c = 5.821(2) Å, V = 348.7(2) Å 3 , Z = 4. Ba 2 Mg 3 F 10 crystallizes with the monoclinic Ba 2 Ni 3 F 10 structure type in space group C2/m (no. 12), a = 18.495(2) Å, b = 5.9497(9) Å, c = 7.8187(9) Å, β = 112.04(1)°, V = 797.5(2) Å 3 , Z = 4. The structural relationships to their hydride analogues BaMgH 4 and Ba 2 Mg 3 H 10 are discussed.
