These reports are intended as a place of publication of stray chromosome counts which otherwise might remain unpublished.Preference is given to numbers for taxa not previously known in this respect or rarely reported, but confirmation of numbers established by three or more previous reports must be declined for financial reasons.Likewise, reports longer than two typewritten pages can be accepted only in exceptional cases.Families, genera and species must be arranged alphabetically, and a brief reference to a single voucher specimen and the place where it is deposited is recommended.Since a critical identification of the material is important, collective species names can be accepted only if qualified by subspecific or varietal denotations.Inexact chromosome counts must be avoided as must indirect reports of chromosome numbers through mentioning of meiotic configurations.Contributions, which, if necessary, will be edited according to the above instructions, should be sent to Askell Love, 5780 Chandler Court, San Jose, California 95123, U.S.A.
