ResumoThis paper presents the results of aerothermodynamics analysis for the Apollo-4 spacecraft under atmosphere conditions at speeds over 10 km/s. The aerothermodynamics of superorbital re-entry of the Apollo-4 command module were numerically analyzed in 3D. The analysis was performed using UST3D code. The code was modified with regard to physical and chemical processes that occur in high-temperature gases when spacecraft is re-entering the atmosphere at orbital or superorbital speeds. The results for temperature distribution in the compressed gas layer were compared to the NERAT code analysis results [1–3].
