Resumo

<p>O artigo apresenta uma discussão sobre a influência da Literatura Brasileira do século XIX nas telenovelas de Gilberto Braga e, sobretudo, sobre a presença do universo machadiano nas obras do autor. Inicialmente, traçamos um percurso da telenovela brasileira como herdeira do folhetim e sua continuação na contemporaneidade por meio de adaptações, citações e absorção de temas presentes nas narrativas literárias. Em telenovelas como <em>Vale tudo</em> (1988/1989), <em>O dono do mundo </em>(1991/1992), <em>Pátria minha</em> (1994) e <em>Força de um desejo</em> (1999/2000), é possível perceber um diálogo entre esses dois escritores que, em momentos distintos, representaram aspectos culturais e sociais do Brasil. Como apoio teórico, buscamos Távola (1996), Alencar (2002), Meyer (1996) e Schwarz (1990) dentre outros.</p><p><em>Palavras-Chave:</em> Telenovela; Gilberto Braga; Machado de Assis.</p><p>Abstract: <em>The essay presents a discussion about the influence of XIX Century Brazilian Literature on the TV soap operas written by Gilberto Braga exhibited by Globo TV Network, but mostly, to discuss about the presence of the universe of Machado de Assis in Braga’s works. A brief overview of the Brazilian soap operas is presented, showing the genre as an heir of the Feuilleton and its continuity through time, in the form of adaptations, citations and absorbances of themes present in Machado’s narratives. In some of Braga’s soap operas it is possible to notice a dialogue with Machado that, in different moments and through different means represented social aspects of Brazil. As theoretical support the studies by Távola (1996), Alencar (2002), Meyer (1996) and Schwarz (1990) were used</em>.</p><p>Keywords: <em>Soap opera; Gilberto Braga; Machado de Assis.</em></p>
