Stories are reports produced by man from his gaze on situations experienced in society, writing them requires a hard and continuous work. From this perspective, to understand the History of the Contestado between the states of Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais, with emphasis on the cities of Barra de São Francisco -ES and Mantena -MG, the scene of the greatest conflicts of the time. The Contestado was a litigious period occurred in the northern region of the border between Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais. In the years 1937 to 1963, the two states contested the rich lands of the region alleging errors of territorial currency. Faced with impasse, violence, disorder and fear, a region was installed, which ended up under the control of the mining and capixabas jurisdictions. However, in 1963, an agreement was sealed between the two states, with currency definition.
