Having established the design criteria for a comprehensive heterogeneous data sonification software framework (DSDF) in the previous chapter, this chapter introduces two pillars of such a framework, the Python and Csound programming languages, as integrated through a Python-Csound Application Programming Interface (API). The result is as a mature, stable, flexible, and comprehensive combination of tools suitable for real and non-realtime sonification, some of the features of which are illustrated in the examples of subsequent chapters.
