Resumo

An origami-based cellular structure with in situ switching between collapsible and load-bearing states is developed, as described in the article number 1900562 by Jinkyu Yang and co-workers. Tachi-Miura polyhedron is employed to design a volumetric reconfigurable structure. Prototypes made of paper sheets achieve the enhancement of the load-bearing capability by two orders of magnitude.
