Judeus, espartanos e romanos em 1 e 2 Macabeus

ResumoRESUMO Enquanto o livro de 1 Macabeus apresenta cartas que teriam sido trocadas entre judeus e espartanos (1 Mac 12.6-18, 20-23; 14.20-23) e um elogio aos romanos (1 Mac 8.1-16), estes dois povos, que aparecem inclusive relacionados em 1 Macabeus (14.16), aparecem tambem no relato de 2 Macabeus, que traz uma carta dos romanos aos judeus (2 Mac 11.34-38) e menciona um vinculo etnico entre judeus e espartanos (2 Mac 5.9). O presente artigo procura analisar tais indicacoes de relacoes entre judeus, espartanos e romanos nos livros de 1 Macabeus e 2 Macabeus a partir de seu contexto dentro do mundo helenistico e do helenismo como cultura dominante, estudando os termos gregos empregados para expressar tais relacoes a fim de determinar o que tais textos sugerem e sua relacao com o seu contexto historico. ABSTRACT While the book of 1 Maccabees presents letters that would have been exchanged between Jews and Spartans (1 Macc. 12:6-18, 20-23; 14:20-23) and a praise of the Romans (1 Mac. 8:1-16), these two peoples, who are related in 1 Maccabees (14:16), also appear in the account of 2 Maccabees, which brings a letter from the Romans to the Jews (2 Mac. 11:34-38) and mentions an ethnic relationship between Jews and Spartans (2 Mac. 5:9). The present article seeks to analyze such indications of relations between Jews, Spartans and Romans in the books of 1 Maccabees and 2 Maccabees from their context within the Hellenistic world and the culture of Hellenism, that was dominant, by studying the Greek terms used to express such relations in order to determine what these texts suggest and their relation to their historical context.
