This paper presents a brief biography of painter Frans Post stemmed from rare documents of his life, among which are his portrait by Frans Hals and biographical surveys by Pedro and Bia C. do Lago, Leonardo D. Silva and ambassador Joaquim Souza Leao. Research the artist’s life is needed to understand his work, which was performed in and later became symbol of human culture, the same culture Frans Post lived, belonged and represents. I intend, with this paper, to build the Post’s personalityas close as possible through a methodology that link pictures and written texts.
