Resumo

This work aims to investigate the influence of mechanical properties of concrete blocks, cement-lime mortar and grout on the structural behavior of prisms under compression, flexure, and shear, considering specific scenarios faced by designers: blocks are considerably stronger and stiffer than mortar, and vice versa. Discussions about the failure mechanisms were provided and analysis of variance was used to explain how the variation of the components' properties affected prisms' strength and stiffness. Strength prediction models were developed in order to account for the failure modes in different case scenarios and improve the predictive ability of formulations of current design codes.
