ResumoThe teaching practices of Oskar Kokoschka, as revealed through descriptions by three of his students in the Viennese Schwarzwald Secondary School, are examined and compared to American Progressive Education literature which stressed the need for practicing artists teaching in the schools. The study concludes with an evaluation of the concept of the artist-in-the-classroom as its strengths and weaknesses are revealed in light of Kokoschka's practices.
