Resumo

O estudo objetivou identificar fatores que influenciam os estudantes a optarem pela especializacao em medicina de familia e comunidade (MFC) na Faculdade de Ciencias Medicas de Santos (FCMS), bem como possiveis falhas relacionadas as novas recomendacoes curriculares do Ministerio da Educacao (MEC). Participaram 213 graduandos do 1o ao 6o ano do curso de medicina atraves de um questionario semiestruturado, nao nominal, composto por questoes fechadas e de multipla escolha. Na analise dos resultados, notou-se que os alunos demonstraram maior facilidade para escolher os topicos que os desmotivam a escolha pela MFC do que os que os motivam. Apesar da grande carga horario do curso, o interesse pela MFC nao sofreu grande mudanca. Acredita-se que seja necessaria uma maior valorizacao do MFC para que os alunos sejam incentivados (GUSSO, G. D. F.; LOPES, J. M. C.; DIAS, L. C., 2011). FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE ACADEMIC STUDENTS IN THE CHOICE FOR FAMILY PRACTICE SPECIALTY The study aimed to identify factors that influence students to opt for specialization in MFC in the Faculdade de Ciencias Medicas de Santos (FCMS), as well as possible failures related to the new curricular recommendations of the Ministry of Education (MEC) for medical schools. 213 undergraduate from the 1st to the 6th year of medical school participated through a semistructured, non-nominal questionnaire composed of closed-ended and multiple-choice questions. In the analysis of the results, it was noticed that the students showed a greater facility to choose the reasons that discourage the choice by the MFC than those that motivate them. Despite the great workload of the course, interest in MFC has not changed much. It is believed that further enhancement of MFC is required for students feel encouraged to choose it (GUSSO, G. D. F.; LOPES, J. M. C.; DIAS, L. C., 2011).
