ResumoNikola Gruevski arrived to Hungary crossing three countries in a mission which was not that secret after all: a few days after the former Macedonian prime minister reported that he was seeking political asylum in Hungary, Europe-wide media started to put together the pieces, so that Hungarian authorities eventually had to admit that they had helped Gruevski get to Hungary. Th e paper briefl y summarizes these events and the corresponding reactions of involved governments and NATO partners, in an attempt to fi nd answers. Th e question is given: Hungary either helped Gruevski in order to serve Russian interests in protecting their close partners or Hungary was just a piece of a puzzle, where the ultimate goal was to reach a solution in the long-lasting name debate and fi nally prepare Macedonia for accession discussions with NATO and the EU.
