Resumo

On March 15, 2019 the Australian Brenton Tarrant broadcasted in Facebook live his attack to the mosque Al Noor in Christchurch, which caused 42 deaths. In the beginning of his broadcast Tarrant reminded his audience to subscribe to PewDiePie YouTube channel. The account of PewDiePie, the Swedish youtuber Felix Kjellberg, nowadays with more than 100M subscriptions, has become in the last year a minefield for his use of an allegedly transgressive humor that has been amplified by alt-right networks. The controversy for the video where he inserted the hashtag #killalljews had the attention of media around the world and the contestation of Kjellberg followers. This paper analyzes the comments to this video in order to understand the reactions to this pungent humor in social media, and the uses of comedy that the alt-right do in its extreme discourse. Besides, we analyze the answer of PewDiePie fans to the coverage of this controversy of newspapers such as The Wall Street Journal in which is played out the divide between social media fandom and traditional media.
