Life happens when you least expect it.” Life comes in a wooden box, shaped as a fuzzy gray creature with an oversized head, and it’s massively prone to mischief, as our young viewer stand-in soon learns. Popular adages are illustrated with accompanying interpretations: “You never know where Life’s gonna take you” is complemented by images of Life carrying the person experiencing it past the Statue of Liberty and Sydney, Australia; “Your whole Life can flash before your eyes” shares an illustration of Life running away from its towel, bottom exposed. Other adages include “Life is full of surprises,” “When Life knocks you down . . . get back up,” and “Life is beautiful,” culminating in “love your Life! ’Cause when you do, your Life will love you back.” This will be comfortable ground for viewers to follow along, and language-loving children will enjoy the interpretations. The ambiguously gendered child, adorned with floppy hair, a zip-up hoodie, and Chucks, gives viewers an easily relatable proxy to be dragged along by Life. Though it doesn’t have quite the impact of Oh, the Places You’ll Go for life’s big benchmarks, viewers starting a new phase in life (say, kindergarten or a move) may appreciate the physical manifestation of their feelings and assurance that everything will be okay.
