Introdução: Coleções entomológicas consistem numa base primordial para estudos taxonômicos e sistemáticos, e dão subsídios para a produção e disseminação do conhecimento sobre a biodiversidade de insetos, tornando possível a realização de ações conservacionistas. A coleção entomológica mantida pelas Faculdades Integradas Aparício Carvalho (FIMCA) em Porto Velho, RO, constitui um dos principais acervos de insetos do estado de Rondônia e possui infraestrutura mínima suficiente para abrigar o valioso material testemunho da biodiversidade da Amazônia Sul Ocidental. Objetivos: O presente trabalho objetivou descrever a coleção entomológica da FIMCA, almejando tornar público o conhecimento sobre o acervo deste recurso de grande valor didático e científico. Materiais e Mátodos: O acervo entomológico foi iniciado em 2014 e é atualmente mantido através de coleções didáticas e de projetos de pesquisas desenvolvidos na instituição. O acervo entomológico é parte integrante da infraestrutura disponível no Laboratório de Entomologia, onde os espécimes são recebidos e preparados para conservação em via seca ou úmida. Resultados: Atualmente, o acervo entomológico da FIMCA abriga em via seca 4.128 espécimes pertencentes a 15 ordens de insetos. Já em via úmida são preservados representantes de cinco ordens da Classe Insecta. A coleção entomológica abriga representantes de 18 ordens (de 30) de insetos, sendo Hemiptera (22% do total), Coleoptera (21%) e Lepidoptera (16%) as mais representativas. Conclusão: Coletas direcionadas a ordens não representadas deverão ser realizadas visando ampliar o acervo entomológico da FIMCA. Além disso, é importante informatizar a coleção a fim de facilitar a curadoria, e melhorar a acessibilidade aos espécimes para estudos didéticos e científicos. Introduction: Entomological collections are a foundation for teaching, taxonomic, and systematic studies and provide cascading benefits for the production and dissemination of knowledge about insect biodiversity, thus making it possible to carry out conservation actions. The entomological collection maintained by the Faculdades Integradas Apari?cio Carvalho (FIMCA) in Porto Velho, RO, is one of the main insect collections in the state of Rondo?nia and has sufficient infrastructure to house the valuable material that documents the biodiversity of the Southwestern Amazon. Objectives: This study describes the entomological collection of FIMCA, with the goal of making public the knowledge about the collection that has great teaching and scientific values. Materials and Methods: The entomological collection was started in 2014 and is currently maintained through collections and research projects developed in the institution. The entomological collection is an integral part of the infrastructure in the Entomology Laboratory, where the specimens are received and prepared for conservation in dry or fluid (alcohol) vials. Results: Currently, the FIMCA entomological collection houses in dry vial 4,128 specimens belonging to 15 orders of insects. Already in fluid vials are preserved representatives of five orders of the Class Insecta. The entomological collection houses representatives from 18 orders (of 30) of insects, including Hemiptera (22% of the total), Coleoptera (21%) and Lepidoptera (16%), which are the most representative. Conclusion: Additional collecting should be directed to orders not represented so that the entomological collection of FIMCA can be expanded. In addition, it is important to database the collection in order to facilitate curation and to improve accessibility to specimens for teaching and scientific studies.
