A Study on the Oskarism of Kim Dong-in and Ryunosuke Akutagawa

Resumo본 연구에서는 김동인의 『광염소나타』와 아쿠타가와 류노스케의『지옥변』을 중 심으로 하여 19세기 오스카 와일드로 대변되는 유미주의적 요소의 수용양상에 대하여 각각 비교 고찰하였다. 유미주의는 19세기 말 프랑스에 철학적 중심을 두고 유럽대륙에서 일어난 운동으로 존 러스킨을 시작으로 하여 워터 페이터로 이어져 오스카 와일드에 의해 완성되었다. 오스카 와일드의 유미주의는 일명 ‘오스커리즘’이라는 작가주의 탄생에 크게 기여하였는데 한국의 경우 김동인과 일본의 경우 아쿠타가와 류노스케는 그 영향을 받은 대표적인 작가라 할 수 있다. 본고에서는 이러한 영향관계를 규명하기 위하여 먼저 오스카 와일드의 작품 중 유미주의의 정수라 평가받는 장편소설 『도리안 그레이의 초상』에 나타나는 유미주의 양상을 고찰하였으며 김동인의 『광염소나타』와 아쿠타가와 류노스케의 『지옥 변』에 내재되어 있는 유미주의적 요소를 도출하였다. 『광염소나타』의 주인공 백성수와 『지옥변』의 주인공 요시히데에게서 나타나는 공통적인 요소인 광인(狂人)의 이미지는 『도리안 그레이의 초상』에서 주인공 도리안이 자신의 젊음과 아름다움이라는 미(美)를 유지하기 위하여 필연적으로 악인이 되어야 하는 소설적 장치를 실현하고 있다. 즉 작품에서 보이는 등장인물들의 광기는 예술의 완성도를 극도로 끌어올리기 위한 하나의 장치로 나타나고 있으며 이러한 모티브는 19세기말 예술을 절대적인 가치로 한 오스카 와일드 등의 서구 유럽의 유미주의 문학과 맥을 같이 하고 있다 할 수 있다.In this study, we discuss the acceptance of Oscar Wilde’s elements of Aestheticism in the 19th century by focusing on Kim Dong-in’s Gwangyeom Sonata and Ryunosuke Akutagawa’s Jigokuhen. Aestheticism, which had its philosophical center in France and had transformed into a movement across the European continent started by John Ruskin, was promoted by Oscar Wilde in the late 19th century. It contributed greatly to the creation of the so-called “Oscherism”, of which Korea’s Kim Dong-in and Japan’s Ryunosuke Akutagawa are two of the most influential authors. To determine this influence, we first considered the aesthetic aspects in Oscar Wilde’s, a feature novel regarded as the essence of aestheticism, and then examined the aesthetic elements inherent in Kim Dong-in’s Gwangyeom Sonata and Ryunosuke Akutagawa’s Jigokuhen. In Wilde’s most renowned work, the image of the maniac an element shared with Gwangyeom Sonata through the main character Yoshihide, embodies a device by which Dorian must be a villain in order to maintain his youth and beauty. In other words, the insanity of the characters is utilized as a device to dramatically enhance the perfection of art, this motif is in line with Western European aesthetic literature at the end of the 19th century, such as Oscar Wilde’s, whose absolute value is found in art.
