Approximation of higher education to basic education: a case study of the junior scientific initiation program Resumo Em anos recentes, iniciativas de aproximacao entre Educacao Superior (ES) e a Educacao Basica (EB) tem sido tomadas, em especial, sob a responsabilidade da Coordenacao de Aperfeicoamento de Pessoal de Nivel Superior (CAPES) e do Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Cientifico e Tecnologico (CNPq). Nesse contexto, analisamos a politica de formacao inicial de pesquisadores na EB, abordando os limites e possibilidades do Programa Institucional de Bolsas de Iniciacao Cientifica para o Ensino Medio (PIBIC-EM) da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC), inserido no contexto da Iniciacao Cientifica Junior (ICJ). Em termos metodologicos, realizamos um estudo de caso do PIBIC-EM da universidade pesquisada. Alem de analisarmos os documentos oficiais do CNPq, da CAPES e das escolas, efetivamos entrevista com os orientadores, coorientadores, bolsistas e a Coordenacao do Programa da universidade. Umas das principais contribuicoes do PIBIC-EM e trazer as pesquisas para dentro das escolas, aproximando a EB da ES. Palavras-chave – Formacao inicial do pesquisador. ICJ/PIBIC-EM. Abstract In recent years, initiatives to approximate higher education and basic education have been made, particularly by the Brazilian federal government agencies that support higher education, Coordination Agency for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) and the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). In this context, we analyze the policy for initial education of researchers in basic education, examining the limits and possibilities for the scientific initiation in high school program (PIBIC-EM) administered by UFSC in the context of the Junior Scientific Initiation program. The methodology of the study included a case study of the program at the university and analysis of official documents from CNPq, CAPES and schools. Interviews were conducted with supervisors, co-supervisors, grant recipients and the coordinators of the program at the university. One of the main contributions of the scientific initiation in high school program is to bring research within the schools, thus approximating high schools and universities.
