Resumo

The recent development of carotid and vertebral arteriography, the use of photographic techniques such as subtraction or logetron now enable us to study blood vessels of under 0.5 mm in diameter. By these means there is now an opportunity of examining on the angiogram the area of the lenticulo-striate or thalamic arteries, the meningeal blood vessels and the branches of the ophthalmic artery. These concepts of vascular anatomy can only be developed if our arteriographic data are compared with opaque injections or any other method of studying cerebral arteries where the results can be used for normal reference purposes. Among these methods, radiopaque injections with the possibility of microradiography hold an important place. The authors report on the results obtained by use of a microradiographic technique in the examination of brain arteries. They illustrate their report with some examples relating to vascularisation. This technique is compared with other methods of morphological study of the white matter in the frontal lobe, optic radiations and the corpus callosum cerebral circulation.
