Since the original papers of Landé1and Pick,2and the subsequent, more extensive studies of Forestier,3numerous series of cases attesting to its value have been reported in both the European and American literature. A collective review has been published recently by Cecil et al.4In 1936 the use of gold was instituted in the arthritic service of the Wm. J.
