Resumo

Determinant in the historical and cultural development of a country, tourism is increasingly a crucial role in the identity of a people. In a region where the landscape is a world heritage site and also the first demarcated region of the world, the Douro, we seek to inform a frequently forgotten heritage, the gilded woodcarving, and establish a roadmap or altarpiece route.Assuming a dominant role in reading the faithful do all the scenery that they are set before the eyes, which can´t remain indifferent, designed to serve as a framework to images, the goal of the altarpiece is to captivate the senses, functioning as the best transmitter vehicle of catechetical and pedagogical message that the Catholic Church, output from the Council of Trent, met to express their faith, and eventually become the preferred scenic structure in which the Church held their biggest concern.Common throughout the Iberian world, despite manifest differently, the gilded altarpiece contributes significantly to the affirmation of an age and identity, which distinguishes it from many other arts.It is through sharing and living heritage we understand, surely better, who we were, who we are and where we are going, just like our ancestors who, proud of an authentic state, rich is certain, at some times, but also pass through serious economic, political and financial difficulties, never lost their cultural identity; on the contrary, they built it, rebuilt it, rehabilitated it and preserved it.The Diocese of Lamego, located in the Douro sub-region and close to the Douro, Côa, Távora and Paiva rivers, extending from Cinfães to Vila Nova de Foz Côa, is elementary for tourism development, once the visitors in first instance, aims to enjoy the scenery and taste the wine, but ends up being involved in all the cultural events that include the tangible and intangible heritage.A meditation tour, contemplation, exercise and tasting.
