Resumo

Vat. Barb. gr. 214 is a thin codex containing scholia to Theocritus and the carmina figurata Wings and Ax. It was commissioned (in 1484), owned, and corrected by the Venetian humanist Ermolao Barbaro ; it later passed to the young Vettor Fausto (Falconio) and then to Parrasio. The paper shows that the texts of the two poems, restyled by Barbaro, present a number of interesting (apparently conjectural) corrections by the hand of the philologist Marcus Musurus. Furthermore this revised text was used by Zacharias Callierges for his Roman edition of 1516 ; he appears to have borrowed this same codex from Parrasio, who came to Rome in 1515. The manuscript thus played a role as an actual « vehicle » of Musurus’ contribution to the edition of Theocritus. This contribution, especially when considered along with its twin edition Giuntina published the same year, represents one of the most debated questions of the Theocritean transmission.
