ResumoEnglishRegardless of size and physical characteristics the attribution of the word “place” to the many perceptions of the living spaces by man. From the hearth to the nation, the range of phenomena that can be considered places is vast. In his text, published in 1975, Yi-Fu Tuan broadens and raises discussions about the multiplicity of places, which are legitimized by experience, being among them the home and its interiors, the city and its urbanity, the neighborhood, the region, and the nation-state. Experiencing such places actively and passively is paramount, since the place is constructed from physical, mental, sensory, and psychological experience in the lived space: it is the center of meaning. portuguesIndepende de tamanho e de caracteristicas fisicas a atribuicao da alcunha “lugar” as diversas percepcoes do homem sobre os espacos vividos. Da lareira a nacao, e vasta a gama de fenomenos que podem ser tidos como lugares. Em seu texto, publicado em 1975, Yi-Fu Tuan amplia e eleva as discussoes acerca da multiplicidade de lugares, os quais sao legitimados pela experiencia, dentre eles o lar e seus interiores, a cidade e sua urbanidade, a vizinhanca, a regiao e a nacao-estado. Experienciar tais lugares ativa e passivamente e primordial, uma vez que o lugar e construido a partir da experiencia fisica, mental, sensorial, psicologica no espaco vivido: e centro de significado.
