ResumoSurveys were conducted in Australia to find biological control agents for the broad-leaved paperbark tree, 'Melaleuca quinquenervia', a serious pest in Florida, USA. This paper presents collection records and biological information for five sawfly species: 'Acanthoperga cameronii' (Westwood), 'Perga vollenhovii' Westwood, 'Pergagrapta polita' Leach, 'Pterygophorus insignis' Kirby and 'Lophyrotoma zonalis' (Rohwcr); all in family Pergidae. One of these species, 'Lophyrotoma zonalis', was extensively studied as a biological control agent but concerns over its toxicity have delayed release.
