Resumo

This work was carried out to determine the ideal number of eggs of Ar q000 ke i:71 (Zelier, 1879), to start an egg mas rearma for zroam2 spp.production purpDses. The treatments were 0.2; 0,4; 0,6; 0.8 and 1.0 g of o. eggs per plastic tray (47.0 x 29.5 x 10.5 cm) using as artifi cial diet whoie wheat meal (97%) and yeast (3%).These treatments with four replications were maintained at laboratory conditions (temperature of 21 20C; relative hunidityof 6010% and 14 hour photophase). The total of adults emrnerged was similar in the treatments with 0.4; 0.6; 0.8 and 1.0 a of eggs per tray.It was observed a lower viability in the 1.0 o of eggs treatment, probably due to the intraspecific craiçetition. Two weeks after the beginnino of adult emeroence, there was a reduction in the adult weight for ali treatments, speciaily for the treatments with a higher number of egos. There was a positive correlation between adult weights and fecundity and a negativeone between number of eggs per tray and adult weights. The cluster analysis showed that 0.4; 0.6 and 0.8 g ner tray were the best treatments for the experimental purposes.T1e re sults indicated that it is better to start a mass rearing of A. khniei1a with 0.4 g of eggs per tray. The coliecting of adults s}iould be finished on the 5th week of rearing.
