ResumoThe Macedonian national identity is currently experiencing reconstruction of its characteristics. (Re)Thinking of the identity, grows into a vital segment of our overall and, no less, actual responsibility. Promoting the concept of ’Nad Makedonec’, and abadonmenting the concept of ’A bre Macedonce’, was one of the basic priorities of the ex-ruling right-wing structure (especially when the national identity, due to the problem with the name of the state, is the most important national issue). It is implemented through all IDAs, and the most transparently through the media, in order to raise the Macedonian national consciousness and to abandon the stereotype of Macedonian inferiority and subordination in the Balkan and in the European context. The hypothesis is that the Skopje 2014 Project to the Macedonian public is presented as a redefinition of the Macedonian national identity by constructing the narrative for its national epic continuity from antiquity to the present day, and in that process, through which the hegemonic power of the then current Macedonian government flared up, the media were a tool for constructing, temporarily stabilizing and presenting the Narrative for the „Skopje 2014“ Project and for the identity. The purpose of the research is to investigate the ways and the methods by which the media performs reconstruction of some characteristics of the national identity, and thus redefining the cultural memory, to show how the national identity is created / constructed through the media in which the „Skopje 2014“ Project represented and what is the role and the function of the media in that process. The methodology which is going to apply is а discursive analysis of the daily print media Dnevnik and Utrinski vesnik, as the most influential media in the Republic of Macedonia. An opportunity for realization of the goal is through analytical follow of the media articles in the daily print media Dnevnik and Utrinski vesnik, on the topic of national identity in the period 2010-2013 in the context of the „Skopje 2014“ Project.
